Big dreams, blue hands and global penpals: World Children’s Day at JAG UK.
Join us on 20 November, as we celebrate World Children’s Day with colour, creativity and connection across all our services.
Led by UNICEF, World Children’s Day is a Global Day of Action for children, by children. It’s a chance to celebrate the rights of every child, especially the right to play, be heard and feel safe.
Across our services globally, we’re marking the day with a joyful ‘Blue Day’ celebration, where children and educators will be invited to wear blue, the official colour of UNICEF, and take part in activities that spark imagination and bring children’s voices to life.
Here’s what’s planned:
Blue Day fun
From blue cupcakes to blue socks, ribbons and wristbands, services will be filled with colour and joy. We invite children and staff to dress in blue – a ribbon, socks, hat, t-shirt, wristband and embrace the colour in each local service.
Handprints of hope
With blue materials, children will create and decorate a blue handprint one big hope for the future. These can be taken home or proudly displayed to show what matters most to the children in our care.
Global penpal exchange
Each child is invited to write or draw a message to children in a partner service in another country - sharing what they wish for in their future. These messages will be posted across the globe and shared at a special “sharing day”, connecting children in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland in a meaningful way.
This activation is designed to complement our regular programming and give children a chance to express themselves, connect globally and feel proud of who they are.
Save the date - we’ll share more details closer to the date.
