Creating Safe Environments
We are an organisation staffed with a dedicated group of people, focused on ensuring that children have the opportunity to thrive through our out-of-school-hours care programmes. This requires an ongoing commitment and investment in safeguarding children and continually improving our child safety efforts.
Every year, we invest millions of pounds into the training and development of our team members through our JAG Experts Academy. We know that a continuous learning and sharing environment can help us to ensure that children feel safe, are safe and remain safe.
Below is a snapshot of some key things that we do to safeguard all children in our care:
Every staff member is required to sign a declaration that they have read and understood KCSIE (DFE’s September annual update) and to complete 'Level 3 Safeguarding' training before commencing employment.
We have Child Safe Champions (i.e., Designated Safeguarding Lead’s (DSLs) which includes our Chief Child Experience Officer) and a Head of Safeguarding & Welfare who meets the Executive Leadership Team weekly, supporting the leadership team and wider business in safeguarding and child protection practices, with an “If you spot something, see something, or feel something – say something” approach and to have a professional curiosity where you listen carefully without leading the child.
We have site-specific risk assessments, which address any concerns or identified hazards and how we deal with them at every site.
We have very robust screening and onboarding processes led by our commitment to safeguarding children and our policies.
We have developed a process for staff when dealing with a disclosure to support them in understanding what they are required to do.
All our clubs follow the statutory legal requirements to meet the needs of keeping children safe, ensuring we are compliant, and continuously striving to meet and exceed the National Governing Bodies Standards.
Safeguarding children and safety is “everyone's business” at JAG. This is not negotiable. This is supported by our Whistleblower's commitment also.
We want to hear from everyone to ensure children are safe. Therefore, if you have any areas of improvement or concern, please contact us at safeguarding@junioradventuresgroup.co.uk
